Houston Baptist University is pleased to appoint Dr. Julie Fernandez as dean of the HBU College of Education and Behavioral Sciences. Fernandez has served as the program coordinator of the Education Administration Program and as the department chair of Leadership and Counseling at HBU. Fernandez has served the Texas education community for 33 years; she has both the knowledge and the heart to prepare effective educators and behavioral science professionals.
Dr. Michael Rosato, HBU provost and vice president for Academic Affairs, said, “Dr. Fernandez was an internal candidate during the national search we conducted for the dean of the College of Education and Behavioral Science (COEBS) position. She was selected specifically because of her extremely strong leadership qualities and her integration of faith and learning. Dr. Fernandez’s extensive experience in K-12 education, including administrative positions, coupled with her prior experience as a faculty member at another university, provides her with the qualities we were looking for in the dean of COEBS.”
