Spiritual Life On Campus: Serve Houston

Spiritual Life On Campus: Serve Houston

On Saturday, November 10th, Houston Christian University held our annual 2018 Fall Serve Houston event. Serve Houston is a time for all Huskies to join together and serve the Greater Houston community through various acts of service. We started the event by having a small worship service and short homily on “The Act of Service.” Everyone then carpooled to the Houston Food Bank where approximately 500 students served from 8am-12pm. During this time our students prepared over 100,000 meals and 10,000 backpacks for weekend meals which were distributed to impoverished children. I would like to thank our Serve Houston partner, Southwest Management District, for helping our students by contributing a significant scholarship which helped to make a bigger impact on the community through this service event. Our students learned a great deal about serving others and the importance of contributing to being the love the world needs to see and feel.
