Gallery 220

Gallery 220 is a 450-square-feet exhibition space located off the foyer of the University Academic Center.

Fine Arts Painting professor, Carlos Canul, director of the Fine Arts Museum, curates the exhibitions for Gallery 220. Professor Canul also supervises the installations, which are done by HCU students taking Gallery and Museum Practices at both the undergraduate and graduate levels. This practical course offers HCU students experience in wrapping and transporting artwork, proper installation procedures, knowledge of mounting and framing hardware and basic lighting of artwork. Additionally, lectures in art historical periods leading to the development of major museums worldwide are studied in this course, which includes private tours of area galleries and museums.

Our Gallery and Museums Practice class has also led to many of our MFA candidates receiving internships at the Museum of Fine Arts, Houston and other prestigious museums and galleries in Houston and beyond.

The Gallery is open from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m., on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday (holidays not included). Admission is free and open to the public. For additional information or to arrange a private tour, please contact Fine Arts Museum director, Carlos Canul.
