Incoming Veteran Student Checklist

All incoming veteran students must complete the steps below. This page provides information to those who have never received VA Education Benefits at any school or training establishment. The initial application process is expected to take estimated 30 days to 45 days.

Step 1: HCU Application

Ensure your program is approved for VA benefits via WEAMS.

Complete and submit HCU’s Application for Admission.

Step 2: VA Education Benefits Application

Read the application carefully since some decisions that you make on the application are now irrevocable.
Complete the form below and turn it in to the Veterans Administration. Application for VA Education Benefits

Step 3: Submit Documents

Notice: if you are applying as a veteran dependent, you may skip this step.

Submit these documents to the Office of Veterans Services (veterans@HC.edu) or call 281-649-3702 for help.

Applying Under Chapter 31: Vocational Rehabilitation Veterans

VOC Rehab students to be certified need: VR&E AUTHORIZATION AND CERTIFICATION OF ENTRANCE OR RE-ENTRANCE INTO REHABILITATION AND CERTIFICATION OF STATUS. This is sent electronically from the VR&E office.

Step 4: Advising and Registering for Courses

All incoming students must attend Orientation to receive their class schedule, meet with financial aid, and explore all the academic and student life resources available to students at HCU. Contact your admissions counselor to register, or visit HC.edu/orientation for more information.

Step 5: VA Enrollment Certification Request Form

Notice: To be certified for benefits, this form must be completed and turned in every semester.

Complete the VA Enrollment Certification Request Form below and submit to the VA Coordinator at veterans@HC.edu, by fax (281) 649-3440, mail, or in person.
