Honors College Orientation

Who Is Orientation For?

Honors College Orientation is required for all incoming Honors Scholars. Fall 2021 orientation will take place on campus at Houston Baptist University from Tuesday, August 24 to Friday, August 27. Students living on campus will be given the opportunity to move into their dorm rooms early on August 24 from 1:00-4:00 p.m. Students who will commute during the semester will need to commute to orientation as on-campus housing for orientation will not be available.

What Can I Expect from Orientation?

Students will receive information that is essential to their success within the Honors College as well as within their other courses at HBU. Among the scheduled activities are opportunities for students to speak with Honors College alumni, participate in mock classroom discussions, meet their Honors College mentor, and engage in community building activities.

What Is the Schedule Like?

The schedule for orientation is still being finalized. Students can expect to hear from faculty, meet with their assigned mentor, participate in mock discussion seminars, and engage in team-building activities with their peers. Following the Honors College orientation, students will then participate in HBU’s Welcome Days.

What Should I Pack?

Students who are moving into their housing assignments are encouraged to follow HBU Residence Life’s packing list. Commuter students should come prepared with a light backpack to hold their orientation materials, a water bottle, note taking materials, and any personal necessities.
