Mock Trial Team

The purpose of Mock Trial is to allow you to enter an environment in which practicing attorneys survive and thrive. We provide you with an academically rigorous set of skills that you won’t learn anywhere else besides in the courtroom. We participate in “Mock Trials” that represent real procedure, law, rules of evidence, and the entire process of a trial from Pre-Trial to closing arguments.

The team is always looking for any members who wish to develop their rhetoric and public speaking skills, train vital skills necessary for law school and other professional areas of life, and have a fun time doing it!

The Team attends multiple tournaments every year to ensure we get an edge when we compete at tournaments that can lead us to the national level. In the 2018-2019 year the team went to the Open Round Championship Series (ORCS) in Memphis, Tennessee where we received a top attorney award and came in second place for the Spirit of AMTA award.

The team at HBU is unique in the regard that all materials, or any expenses related to Mock Trial are covered, almost in entirety to ensure that we are able to perform at the highest possible level. The only object in Mock Trial is how much you’re willing to put into it!

Membership for the team only requires that you are a student of Houston Baptist University.

We hope you consider the Mock Trial Team!
