Career and Calling

Career and Calling

The Office of Career and Calling at Houston Christian University is the centralized career resource for all majors. We prepare all of our students for the World of Business beginning in the very first year of college, and the career coaching and developing of our students continues throughout the undergraduate years into graduate school and beyond. We connect students with employers.

Our mission statement: The Office of Career and Calling seeks to provide assistance for students and alumni in exploring one’s life calling through personal discovery, vocational exploration, and educational training. Our “adopted” scripture: Whether you turn to the right or to the left, your ears will hear a voice behind you, saying, “This is the way; walk in it.” – Isaiah 30:21

Our Career Fairs require professional attire, an approved resume, and registration through HCU’s Hire-A-Husky system. For students who do not currently have professional attire, HCU partners with Career Gear and Dress For Success Houston to provide free suits for students attending a Career Fair and/or interview. Students interested must come to the Office of Career & Calling. In all things the Office of Career and Calling prepares Huskies for the real world. These are all things that a job applicant would have to do in a job search. Students as early as their Freshman year are exposed and prepared for the job search process.

The next “save-the-date” would be for Friday, September 20th from 10AM-1PM in MD Anderson for our Nursing and Health Professionals Career Fair. Additionally we have a Business Career Path Career Fair on Tuesday, October 8th from 12PM-3PM in McNair Hall. Each semester we host a Mock Interview & Résumé Clinic that pairs employers with students. This event give students an opportunity to get his/her résumé critiqued and practice interviewing with employers who want to meet HCU students. All students at all levels are encouraged to attend.
