Affiliated Nursing Student Organizations

Nursing Student Association – Houston Christian University is proud to have a local chapter for the National Nursing Student Association. The HCU chapter of the Nursing Student Association aligns itself with the University’s Ten Pillars Vision. We seek to increase our cultural impact and establish a society of learning through health education and community outreach to achieve a more global focus. We seek to enhance students’ lives through meaningful interaction among themselves and other healthcare professionals. The Nursing Student Organization at the Linda Dunham School of Nursing is located in the Cullen Science Building.

Texas Nursing Students’ Association, Inc. (TNSA) – A student nursing association dedicated to promoting professionalism and leadership for today’s students, we represent more than 3,000 student nurses from across the state preparing for initial licensure as registered nurses. The mission is to provide the highest education for student nurses while aiding in the development of the whole person. TNSA has direct input into the standards on nursing education and influence on the education process. TNSA models a high level of integrity among students in their dealings with people as they strive for excellence in everything they do.

National Student Nurses Association (NSNA) – With a membership of 60,000 nationwide, the National Student Nurses’ Association mentors the professional development of future registered nurses and facilitates their entrance into the profession by providing educational resources, leadership opportunities and career guidance. The HCU chapter seeks to increase our cultural impact and establish a society of learning through health education and community outreach to achieve a more global focus. We aim to enhance students’ lives through their meaningful interaction with one another and other healthcare professionals.

American Nurses Association (ANA) – The American Nurses Association (ANA) is the premier organization  representing the interests of the nation’s 3.4 million registered nurses. ANA advances the nursing profession by fostering high standards of nursing practice, promoting a safe and ethical work environment, bolstering the health and wellness of nurses, and advocating on healthcare issues that affect nurses and the public. ANA is at the forefront of improving the quality of healthcare for all.

Sigma Theta Tau – The mission of the Honor Society of Nursing, Sigma Theta Tau International (STTI) is advancing world health and celebrating nursing excellence in scholarship, leadership and service. Sigma Theta Tau International’s vision is to be the global organization of choice for nursing. STTI membership is by invitation to baccalaureate and graduate nursing students who demonstrate excellence in scholarship and to nurse leaders exhibiting exceptional achievements in nursing.
