School of Christian Thought Scholarships

Below is a list of scholarships for undergraduate and graduate students studying in the School of Christian Thought at HBU.

Undergrad Scholarships

Christian Service Scholarship Deadline: April 1 | This scholarship is for incoming residential (not online) freshman studying in the School of Christian Thought. It is awarded to a student who has accepted Christ as Lord and is an active member of a church. The student must be recommended for the scholarship by the student’s pastor. Recipients must be unconditionally admitted to HBU and maintain a 3.0 cumulative HBU grade point average. Students can submit their application online.
Baptist General Convention of Texas Scholarship This scholarship is for any undergraduate student who demonstrates a call to ministry. To qualify a student must be someone who has accepted Christ as Lord and personal Savior and is a member of a Baptist Church. The student must show Church-affirmed evidence of a sense of call to the ministry. Students participating in this program also receive special guidance and participate in programs to help them pursue their calling. To apply, submit the Baptist General Convention of Texas Scholarship Application.

Graduate Scholarships

Hartman Hall Scholarship Deadline: April 1 | The Hartman Hall Scholarship is available to students who are participating in a missionary internship program, working with international or ethnic congregations in the Houston area.
Bice Scholarship Deadline: April 1 | The Bice Scholarship is available to HBU alumni who are entering, or currently enrolled in, the HBU Master of Divinity.
Riverside Scholarship Deadline: April 1 | The Riverside Scholarship is available to HBU alumni who are entering, or currently enrolled in, the HBU Master of Divinity.
The Guild Scholarship Deadline: March 1 | The Guild Committee awards scholarships to new and current students. This scholarship is awarded for the summer and fall admission. Scholarship recipients are identified by the Guild Scholarship Selection Committee.  (Available to MDiv, MATS, MACL and MABL student)
Baptist General Convention of Texas Scholarship BGCT scholarships are awarded to students who are active members of a church associated with the Baptist General Convention of Texas. To qualify a student must be someone who has accepted Christ as Lord and personal Savior, and is a member of a Baptist Church.  The student must show Church-affirmed evidence of a sense of call to the ministry.   (Available to MDiv, MATS, MACL and MABL student)
William Lane Craig Scholarship Deadline: April 1 | The William Lane Craig Scholarship is awarded to two (2) MA in Apologetics students per year to help with the cost of tuition. Both online and residential students are eligible for the scholarship. The applicant must maintain a 3.5 GPA and good standing within the Graduate School for the duration of the scholarship period (2 semesters) and take at least 5 units per semester. The scholarship will be disbursed over the course of 2 semesters, offering $500 per semester that will be applied to tuition.
Merit Scholarship Deadline: April 1 | The MAA Merit Scholarship is awarded to the most academically talented applicant students in the Master of Arts in Apologetics program. Both online and residential students are eligible. The scholarships are awarded each Spring, to begin in the Fall semester.
