Course Description

CHRI  6335 The New Testament’s Use of the Old Testament
Ever wondered what the apostles were trying to get at when they quoted the Old Testament? Are they just making up meanings? This course will survey the use of Old Testament texts by Jesus and the New Testament writers. Specific topics include how the OT literature was translated, read, and interpreted in the intertestamental period and the time of Jesus, major OT themes as they appear in the NT (creation, rule of God, covenant, redemption), and the NT view of major OT figures. We will thus explore the ways that the NT writers adopt, adapt, or re-interpret Scripture.

CHRI 6312 Church Ministry
Students will be given a comprehensive overview of church ministry fundamentals from expert presenters delivering unique insights on practical best practices. Topics will include leadership, worship, ministry during crisis, Bible study strategies, the business of church, discernment in staffing, and the keys to communication, among other areas of focus. The disciplines of the pulpit in terms of sermon preparation and delivery will be addressed by experienced preaching/teaching pastors. Practical aspects of providing balanced programming will be examined and discussed. A question and answer period will highlight each week’s presentation.
