  • Master of Arts in Christian Leadership (MACL)

  • Master of Arts in Clinical Mental Health Counseling (MACMHC)

    • Given your history and circumstances, describe any challenges that could prevent you from completion of this degree and how you might address them should they arise.

     

    Candidate Presentation – Applicants may choose between attending a virtual interview with the admissions team or submitting a 10-12 minute video responding to predetermined questions. This will take place during the second phase of the admissions process.

  • Master of Arts in Human Services (MAHS)

  • Master of Education in Educational Administration (MEd)
    1. Official Transcripts – Students must have two years of teaching experience and provide all official transcripts, and any additional transcripts for content area certification. Official transcripts should be sent directly to the Online Graduate School from the college or university that awarded your bachelor’s degree. Transcripts from any additional coursework since that time should also be submitted.
    2. Additional Transcripts – For students applying to be certified in a content area, you are required to submit all of your transcripts to the Online Graduate School.
    3. References – Applicants must provide contact information for two (2) references on their application. References must be a principal or supervisor, parent of a taught student, or colleague. One must be for a campus or school district leader if applicant is a certified teacher. Friends and family members should not be listed as references.
    4. Résumé/CV and Service Record – Applicants must provide a current resume and an official school district, charter, or independent school service record.  Some specializations may require a specific length of work experience as shown on the service record.  Documents may be sent to the Online Graduate School at OnlineVerification@HBU.edu.
    5. Interview – An interview may be required as part of the admission process.

  • Doctor of Education in Executive Educational Leadership (EdD)

    Admission Requirements

    • Official Transcripts – Applicants must provide official transcripts from institutions awarding the master’s degree. Transcripts must show completion of a master’s degree. A minimum grade point average is required for courses applied toward a master’s degree.
    • Master’s Research Paper – Applicants must submit a 5-7 page master’s level research paper that was written and graded during their master’s program. The submission must be a research paper covering any topic and should be authored only by the applicant.
    • Resume & Service Record – Applicants must provide a current resume and service record. Applicants must have completed at least three (3) full-time professional years at an accredited school, university, or agency.
    • References – Applicants must provide reference information on their application for the following:
      • Two (2) administrators from the school district or agency at a current place of employment (References from university administrators from former places of employment may be accepted. Include an explanation.)
      • One (1) current or former graduate professor (References from alternate administrators may be accepted. Include an explanation.)
    • Processing fee – Applicants will be required to submit a $35 processing fee, payable online at HBU.edu/EdDAppFee, or by check or money order, to The Graduate School, Houston Baptist University, 7502 Fondren, Houston, TX, 77074.
    • Superintendent Certification – Applicants seeking a superintendent certification must submit the following additional document to be considered for admission:
      • Copy of Principal Certification issued by State Board of Educator Certification.
    • Admission Interview – Applicants must complete an interview as part of the admission process.

  • Doctor of Education in Executive Leadership in Mental Health and Human Services (EdD)

    Admission Requirements

    The Doctor of Education (EdD) program is designed for those individuals who have already demonstrated leadership potential in the mental health field. The program will admit candidates who meet the academic requirements for the EdD degree program and who possess personal qualities and professional experiences that suggest a strong potential for success as doctoral candidates and as community mental health leaders. Meeting the minimum requirements qualifies an individual for consideration, but does not guarantee admission to the program. Admission will be granted annually on a competitive basis.

    The admissions standards for the Doctor of Education in Executive Leadership in Mental Health and Human Services will be the same as the Doctor of Education in Executive Educational Leadership, and the Doctor of Education in Executive Leadership and Special Education Leadership. These requirements are listed below.

    • Official Transcripts – Applicants must provide official transcripts from institutions awarding the master’s degree. Transcripts must show completion of a master’s degree. A minimum grade point average is required for courses applied toward a master’s degree.

Undergraduate Programs

Students are required to submit transcripts showing they achieved a high school general or advanced diploma or a GED with passing scores. (Waived if student has 32 credit hours or more of transfer credit)

Students must submit all college transcripts from any previously attended institutions. Official transcripts should be sent directly from the college or university that awarded your bachelor’s degree to be considered official. Transcripts from any additional coursework since that time should also be submitted including postbaccalaureate or graduate-level transcripts.

You may be accepted with unofficial transcripts by emailing copies to OnlineVerification@HBU.edu; however, you must submit the official transcripts in a sealed envelope from the school or through an approved electronic service by your second semester.
