Master of Arts in Apologetics
HBU Online Learning Program
The mission of the Master of Arts in Apologetics (MAA) program is to develop students who are capable of serving their community and the Church successfully in a variety of vocations, including academic, parachurch, and ecclesiastical professions. The Master of Arts in Apologetics degree is intended to provide students with interdisciplinary training in apologetics so that they understand and engage with contemporary worldviews and culture in order to transform the world for Christ, as academics, as apologists, and as followers of Christ.
Students will choose from one of the following emphases:
Philosophical – This degree takes the classical propositional apologetics approach, and goes in-depth into the philosophical issues of apologetics. HBU’s MA in Apologetics with a focus on Philosophical Apologetics is set apart from other apologetics programs by its interdisciplinary nature and its engagement with culture, the arts, and humanities.
Cultural – This degree focuses on integrating imaginative and rational apologetics, studying a range of issues in philosophy, literature and the arts, and cultural issues in order to analyze and engage with culture for apologetics at both the intellectual and popular level (including creative work). HBU’s MA in Apologetics with a focus on Cultural Apologetics is set apart from other apologetics programs by its interdisciplinary nature and its engagement with culture, the arts and humanities.

Official Transcripts – Official transcripts should be sent directly to The Graduate School from the college or university that awarded your bachelor’s degree. Transcripts from any additional coursework since that time should also be submitted. **If your degree-conferred transcript contains fewer than 100 hours of your undergraduate coursework, you will be required to submit all undergraduate transcripts. Any post-baccalaureate or graduate level transcripts will also be required.
Personal Statement – Please submit a personal statement, between 300 and 500 words, sharing your desire to attend The HBU Online Graduate School and how you feel a degree from HBU will assist you in your academic and professional careers.
