The Office of Admissions at Houston Baptist University is excited to announce that all students who have earned an associate’s degree from a Texas community college will now receive guaranteed admission to HBU. While students will still need to complete a transfer application and submit required documentation, they can rest knowing that their admission is guaranteed while also experiencing a smoother, more predictable admissions process.
This new decision comes as HBU begins the process of renewing or establishing transfer agreements with several local community colleges including Lone Star, HCC, San Jacinto, Blinn, and Wharton. Once confirmed, these agreements will further assist students with their transition toward completing a bachelor’s degree at HBU, allowing students to clearly identify which classes they need to take at each school in order to fulfill the requirements for their chosen HBU degree within four years.*
We understand that students elect to complete their general education requirements at the community college level because of the reduced cost and we are committed to ensuring that HBU remains an affordable option for those who transfer. In addition to guaranteed admission, students who transfer are eligible for scholarships and numerous other types of financial aid offered by the university. These students bring a wealth of diversity and skillset to HBU’s student body, and we look forward to the opportunity to welcome more transfer students to our campus through this guaranteed admission initiative.
