HBU Partners with TeamUP for Houston Youth

Houston Baptist University is proud to partner with TeamUP for Houston Youth beginning this year. The inaugural TeamUP initiative was launched in the 2018-2019 school year. The program equips youth with professional skills and experiences in the sports industry, driving motivation to pursue college or a career path. Read the Houston Mayor’s Office full press release.

“We are happy to partner with the Houston Mayor’s Office as the educational partner for the Southwest TeamUp Club. HBU has been paired with Sharpstown High School and YES Prep Gulfton working through curriculum to develop and prepare high school students for futures in higher education and careers in the sports industry. We are thrilled, not only to be serving in our direct community, but to foster relationships and bring exposure of higher education as a feasible possibility for many underserved youth. “  ~Dr. MaryCatherine Harmon, Program Coordinator of HBU Allied Health & Wellness Management

“We are really excited to be partnering with the Mayor’s Office on the TeamUp initiative! We look forward to mentoring, and to providing opportunities for the local high schools involved. We are especially hopeful that we can get students onto the campus before the semester is over to give them some real-world opportunities to see what we do and what goes into working in intercollegiate athletics.”  ~Steve Moniaci, Director of HBU Athletics
