Dr. Eric L. Johnson, director of HBU’s Gideon Institute of Christian Psychology and Counseling, is serving as one of two key speakers for “Secret Pain: Understanding Adolescent Suicide,” on Saturday, Feb. 29. The Gideon Institute is cohosting the event with Houston’s First Baptist Church. Dr. Matthew Stanford, director of The Hope and Healing Center, will also present. Attendees will become informed about creating conditions that lessen the risk of suicide, identifying the signs of possible suicide, treating the psychological and spiritual conditions that can predispose to suicide, and dealing with its aftermath, when it occurs.
