Culture Influencers: Alaniz and Wilson

Dr. Katie Alaniz, assistant professor of Education, and Dr. Dawn Wilson, professor of Education, were invited to present at the Texas Computer Education Association (TCEA) Elementary Technology Conference, which took place in Galveston, from June 9-11. Their session was entitled, “Sail the Six C’s of Learning in the Digital Age.” This session integrated concepts contained within the book, “Naturalizing Digital Immigrants: The Power of Collegial Coaching for Technology Integration,” which was published by Rowman & Littlefield Education. The session also included principles from their book entitled, “Digital Media in Today’s Classrooms: The Potential for Meaningful Teaching, Learning, and Assessment,” which was co-authored with HBU colleague Joshua Sikora, Assistant Professor of Cinema and New Media Arts. This book was also published by Rowman & Littlefield Education.

Alaniz and Wilson were invited to present at the Texas Association for Curriculum and Supervision Development (ASCD) Ignite19 Conference, which took place in Houston from June 10-12. Their session was entitled, “Coaches to the Rescue! Breathe New Life into Tech PD through Coaching CPR.” This session integrated concepts contained within the book, “Naturalizing Digital Immigrants: The Power of Collegial Coaching for Technology Integration,” which was published by Rowman & Littlefield Education.
