Dr. Levon Hayrapetyan, professor of Business and department chair of Management, Marketing and Business, presented a paper entitled, “Interactive Clustering Tools in Microsoft Excel. Part 1. Hierarchical Clustering” at the International Academy of Business and Public Administration Disciplines Conference held in Dallas in April 2019. In this study, an interactive method is developed which visualizes each step of combining the two most similar clusters into one and generates the corresponding subtree in the dendrogram. It also allows “disassembly” of the dendrogram, i.e., undoing any (or all) clustering steps. The paper received a “Research Award.” Dr. Hayrapetyan also served as a discussant for the Quantitative Methods/Data Analysis session.
