HBU Department of Music to Host “History & Hymns Concert”

The Houston Baptist University Department of Music will host the “History & Hymns Concert” from 7:30 p.m. to 9 p.m., Monday, Sept. 24, in the Morris Cultural Arts Center, 7502 Fondren Road.

The concert will center around the beloved hymns of America. The choir and congregants will sing favorites including “Holy, Holy, Holy,” “Amazing Grace” and “When I Survey the Wondrous Cross.” Also included will be spirituals, shape-note hymns and modern adaptations of traditional hymn texts. Dr. Terre Johnson, chair of the Department of Music, said, “The interactive program will be inspiring, uplifting and informative.”
