Culture Influencers: Katie Alaniz and Dawn Wilson

Dr. Katie AlanizDawn WilsonKatie Alaniz, assistant professor of Education, and Dr. Dawn Wilson, professor of Education,  were invited to present at the Technology and Curriculum Conference of Aldine on October 7, 2017, in Houston. Their first presentation was entitled, “Coaching to the Rescue! Breathe New Life into Tech PD with the ‘Coaching CPR’ Method,” and was created on the basis of their book Naturalizing Digital Immigrants: The Power of Collegial Coaching for Technology Integration. Their second presentation was entitled “Sit Back, Relax, and Enjoy the Show! Transforming Videos into Engaging Formative Assessments.” This presentation highlighted content from their book Digital Media in Today’s Classrooms: The Potential for Meaningful Teaching, Learning, and Assessment, which was co-authored with Joshua Sikora, Assistant Professor of Cinema and New Media Arts. Both books were published by Rowman & Littlefield Education, in 2015 and 2016 respectively.
