Patrick Moore, director of Instrumental Studies and Bands, and Dr. Edgar Cajas, program coordinator for Music Education and associate professor of Music, served as guest clinicians at the Instituto de Musica Alfredo Colom in Guatemala City July 9 – 14.
Professor Moore led clinics on conducting, music education, the importance of music theory and aural skills, and percussion techniques while also conducting master classes with the concert band, jazz ensemble, and big band ensemble. Professor Moore was also honored to perform a percussion recital that featured his newly published music with Kendor Music publications. Professor Moore’s recently-published book, “Intermediate Solos for Timpani” with Kendor Music publications consists of twelve timpani solos each composed in a unique style emphasizing various technical proficiencies. These solos are well-suited for Solo and Ensemble competitions and for solo recitals.
Dr. Cajas conducted clinics on music education, worked with the school’s choir teaching vocal technique, and introducing new music clinics. Dr. Cajas also served as an accompanist and performed a piano duet at the concert.
