Dr. Polly Trevino, assistant professor of education and program coordinator for the bilingual education, presented at the Texas Association for Bilingual Education conference in Galveston in October. The presentation, “Language and Literacy Acquisition in Bilingual Picture Books about Immigration,” was well attended by bilingual educators from across the state.
Dr. Trevino also presented at the Texas TESOL (Teachers of English to Speakers of Other Languages) Region IV conference in Houston in November. In “How to Write Measureable, ELPS-Aligned Language Objectives for Sheltered ESL,” Dr. Trevino taught ESL teachers how to incorporate objectives for language within math, science, and social studies lessons.
