Culture Influencers: Rhonda Furr

Dr. Rhonda FurrRhonda Furr was the Convention Coordinator for the 2016 American Guild of Organist’s National Convention. Over 1,200 organists, ministers of music and organ enthusiasts from around the globe attended the convention that featured 76 workshops and 35 concerts/worship services. This leadership position involved supervising 17 committees and oversight of a one million dollar budget. Highlights included: a glorious opening worship service at St. Martin’s Episcopal Church, Michel Bouvard of the Paris Conservatory, the St. Thomas Choir of New York at the Co-Cathedral of the Sacred Heart, Mormon Tabernacle organist Richard Elliott at First Presbyterian Church, Mary Preston with the Houston Chamber Choir at St. Paul’s United Methodist and a memorable closing concert at St. Martin’s featuring a greeting from an astronaut at the International Space Station, images from the Hubble telescope, two organists, a soloist and the Houston Symphony.
