Whittington Goodwin

Associate Provost for Student Life

Whit Goodwin has oversight of the university’s student life and student success departments including Spiritual Life, Student Involvement, First and Second Year Experiences, Residence Life, Campus Recreation, Student Organizations, Student Conduct, Student Health Services, University Testing, Career and Calling, the HBU Bradshaw Fitness Center, and HBU’s Cheer and Spirit programs.

Goodwin reports to the Provost and also serves on various University committees and task forces.

Prior to joining HBU in 2011, Goodwin served in the division of student affairs and the Preministerial Scholars program at Samford University in Birmingham, Alabama. He also served with the International Mission Board of The Southern Baptist Convention working with German and Swiss students at the University of Basil, Switzerland and the University of Cologne, Germany. Goodwin was the founder and director of Whit Goodwin ministries, a ministry dedicated to speaking and teaching concerning spiritual growth and missional service at student camps and conferences nationwide.

His professional memberships include the Association of College and University Housing Officials International, the Association for Student Conduct Administration, the Southeastern Association of Housing Officials, and serves as a voting delegate to the National Association of Student Personnel Administrators. Goodwin serves the community as Vice-President for the Board of Directors for Christian Ministries International and Belize Christian Ministries, a director for the Belize Christian Academy, teaches Sunday school, and speaks at various churches and student conferences throughout the nation.

Goodwin earned a Bachelor of Arts in Religion from Samford University, a Master of Divinity from Beeson Divinity School at Samford University, and a Master of Arts in Higher Education Administration from the University of Alabama in Tuscaloosa. He is currently pursuing a Ph.D in Higher Education Administration with a focus on Student Success at Azusa Pacific University in Azusa, California.
