Ms. Song’s teaching focuses on the physical, emotional, and vocal health of the student. She emphasizes a systematic learning process of acquiring practical information to assist students through their musical journey of becoming inspired artists and teachers.
Prior to joining HBU, Ms. Song taught voice and associated music classes at Texas Southern University for 5 years. She has also served as the artistic director for the Summer Vocal Program at Peiwen School of Peking University, China. Ms. Song has performed as a Studio Artist with the L’Arte Del Bel Canto in Milan, Italy on multiple occasions. Ms. Song has been a featured soloist with a variety of organizations throughout America, England, Singapore, Italy, and China. She is an active member of the National Association of Teachers of Singing (NATS). Many of Ms. Song’s students have been winners and finalists in various competitions. Additionally, they have been accepted into a variety of music programs such as Berklee College of Music, Peabody Conservatory of Music, and Takarazuka Music School in Japan. Areas of professional research and interest include the combined vocal techniques of Western and Asian music, literature, vocal pedagogy, and musical aesthetics. Ms. Song enjoys traveling, learning about diverse cultures, reading, and practicing yoga.
