Dr. Jerry Johnston oversees all areas of University marketing and communications, and serves as a member of the Executive Council. Dr. Johnston is an evangelist, pastor, author, church-planter, television host, producer and director of documentaries and TV specials, a fundraiser for Christian causes, pastoral coach, and proud grandfather.
Since Jerry first began preaching in 1974, he has spoken in more than 1,200 churches throughout North America and the world, and captivated youth on over 2,500 public school campuses by addressing vital issues. More than 125,000 recorded salvation decisions have been made in his revivals and evangelistic crusades (JerryJohnston.com).
Dr. Johnston has widespread media experience, having appeared on scores of major TV shows, and produced documentaries for Word Publishing, which have been distributed to thousands of churches. Jerry is passionate about training Christian leaders and built a mega-church. Jerry also serves as the pastor and director of the Christian Thinkers Society (CTS), an innovative apologetics ministry that specializes in numerous print and digital resources, debates and apologetic conferences founded by his son, Dr. Jeremiah Johnston. He has the spiritual gifts of faith, leadership, evangelism, teaching and discernment.
His wife, Dr. Cristie Jo Johnston, is an effective teacher of God’s Word who has broad appeal to both men and women. The Johnstons have extensive contacts and fundraising experience with evangelicals and donors of all denominations throughout the US and Canada. The Johnstons believe God has anointed the leadership of Dr. Robert Sloan to raise up HBU as the premiere national university to impact the world for Jesus Christ.
