Teaching Focus
Dr. Blado’s teaching interest is in the use of pedagogical methods to enhance active learning in the classroom and incorporating undergraduate research in the upper level physics classes. He uses Eric Mazur’s Peer Instruction method with the Classroom Performance System, Collaborative Problem Solving and microcomputer-based laboratory experiments. The undergraduate research projects in his upper level physics classes have resulted in papers submitted and published in a peer-reviewed physics journal. His area of specialization is in theoretical physics.
Additional Information
Dr. Blado has done research in theoretical particle physics, effects of quantum gravity in quantum mechanics, theoretical chemistry and physics education. He developed introductory physics courses designed to help students prepare well for the MCAT physics test.
At HCU, Dr. Blado has been a member of the Committee on Student Discipline and Appeals, Faculty Spiritual Retreat Committee, Research and Development Council, Curriculum, Learning Resources, Assessment/Effectiveness Committees, and was the Faculty Assembly Representative of the College of Science and Mathematics.
Dr. Blado has been nominated twice for the Opal Goolsby Teaching Award at HCU
