Dr. David Hao is the Dean of Student Success & Advising at Houston Baptist University, where he serves as the chief retention officer. Dean Hao provides leadership to the Academic Success Center, First Year Success, TRIO Student Support Services, and Career Services. Together, he and his team spearhead retention and timely graduation efforts by creating strategic partnerships across campus.
Classes taught by Dean Hao include Freshmen Year Seminar, Business Ethics, World of Business, Legal Aspects & Finance of Higher Education, and History & Philosophy of Higher Education.
Dean Hao’s committee service includes chairing the Academic Advising Committee, Early Alert Committee, and Academic Support Committee. He is a member of the Academic Affairs Committee, Academic Council, First Year Experience Committee, First Year Seminar Committee, Administrative Systems Advisory Group, Admission Review Board, Institutional Strategic Planning Committee, Student Award Committee, SACSCOC: 5th Year Interim Report Committee, Special Projects Committee, Project Day One Committee, and Core Curriculum Council.
Previously, Dean Hao served as the Dean of Academic Success, Associate Dean of Student Success, and Assistant Director of Residence Life. Dean Hao obtained his Doctor of Jurisprudence from Boston College Law School, his Master of Higher Education Administration degree from Boston College Lynch School of Education, and his Bachelor of Business Administration degree (economics major) from Baylor University. He is a licensed attorney and active member of the State Bar of Texas.
