Teaching Focus

I love teaching about church history, world Christianity, Christianity in China, missions history, and evangelism. Under the supervision of Prof. Alister McGrath, my PhD dissertation explored the impact of Union Theological Seminary (NY) on Christianity in 20th century China. I have contributed to Sinicizing Christianity (Brill, 2017) and journal articles in Europe, Asia, and North America.

Additional Information

I serve as the Director of Innovation for Bridges International, a ministry to international students. In this role I develop resources to help our staff members and student leaders be more effective in sharing the love of Jesus. In 2017 I helped create a new evangelism tool, Honor Restored, for the GodTools app. It has now been translated into 36 languages and used in over 160 countries. I have been the assistant pastor at City of Refuge Church in Houston and assisting pastor at St James Clerkenwell Church in London. Currently, I am helping a friend start a multi-ethnic church in Katy called Mosaic Community Church. I love the diversity in my community, at HBU, and throughout Houston. In my free time I enjoy hanging out with my six kids, watching movies, cycling, and doing CrossFit. I like to travel: I’ve been to 35 countries but Spain, Portugal, South Africa, and Japan are at the top of my bucket list.
