of the Global Center for Mental Healthcare and Ministry at Houston Baptist University
A core group of presenters represents a literal “Who’s Who” of Christian mental health practitioners, educators, crisis and trauma responders, professional life coaches, and researchers. No other university in the world has pulled together such a diverse and comprehensive group of individuals into its academic community for training students. Embedded video-based presentations in each course of study move beyond traditional online/distance education programs, support the faculty of record with “guest lectures” from world-renowned colleagues.
An unprecedented global connection with Christian practitioners including: counselors, psychologists, social workers, marriage and family therapists, addiction specialists, psychiatrists, crisis responders, pastoral counselors, chaplains, psychiatric nurses, lay caregivers, mediators, life coaches, small group and ministry leaders, educators, researchers, authors and more.
Degree-oriented courses and programs are rigorously designed to meet regional accreditation standards and incorporate supplemental course texts and examinations that go hand-in-hand with video lectures, as well as a unique emphasis on experiential learning assignments designed to expand the “classroom” into the actual helping environment and promote relevant skill development and critical self-reflection.
A broad continuum of educational and training formats including:
