The inaugural Christianity and Culture Conference at Houston Christian University (formerly Houston Baptist University) seeks to highlight the importance of the Family in the Western Tradition by exploring the different representations, significations, and roles of the Family. The conference will provide a cross-disciplinary venue to consider the past and future importance of the Family, particularly from a Christian perspective, that is evident in literature, philosophy, history, science, art, and religion.

Keynote Speakers

Mark Regnerus is a Professor of Sociology at the University of Texas at Austin and a Senior Fellow at the Austin Institute for the Study of Family and Culture. The author of four books from Oxford University Press and more than 40 articles in peer-reviewed journals, his research and scholarly essays have appeared in media outlets as diverse as Slate and First Things.

Matthew Lee Anderson is an Assistant Research Professor of Ethics and Theology at Baylor University’s Institute for Studies of Religion, and he is an Associate Fellow at the McDonald Centre for Theology, Ethics, and Public Life at Oxford University. He has written two books, hosts the podcast Mere Fidelity, and writes regularly for outlets like Christianity Today, The Washington Post, First Things, Vox, and The Gospel Coalition.
