Welcome to the Houston Baptist University, Office of Veterans Affairs. It is the goal of the HBU Office to provide you with the best assistance possible throughout your pursuit of education at HBU.
This page provides information to those who have never received VA Family Education Benefits at any school or training establishment. The initial application process is expected to take estimated 30 days to 45 days.
Checklist for Veteran Families

Step 1: Complete and submit the HBU Admissions Application
You must be admitted to Houston Baptist University as a degree-seeking student.

Step 2: Complete the application for VA benefits
– Read the application carefully since some decisions that you make on the application are now irrevocable.
– Form must be turned into the Veterans Administration; may also be completed on line.

Step 3: Get advised and registered for courses
First-time Freshmen Students:
All incoming students must attend Orientation to receive their class schedule, meet with financial aid, and explore all the academic and student life resources available to students at HBU. Contact your admissions counselor to register, or visit hbu.edu/orientation for more information.
First-time Transfer Students:

Step 4: Complete HBU's VA Enrollment Certification Request Form

Complete the VA Enrollment Certification Request Form above and submit to the VA Coordinator in the Office of the Registrar via email, fax (281) 649-3440, mail, or in person.
To be certified for benefits, this form has to be completed and turned in every semester.
*Notify the VA Coordinator in the Office of the Registrar via email of any changes to the following:
– Filing of a Degree Plan
– Changes in Major
– Changes in Semester Schedule
You must notify the HBU Veterans Representative of these changes within 30 days. Failure to do so may result in over-payment and if you are overpaid the University is required to return any funds received from the VA which will result in the student owing a balance to the University.
