An official transcript is a comprehensive record of your academic progress, including transfer hours, credit earned by exam, and all earned progress of coursework taken at HBU. Official transcripts include the Houston Baptist University seal and the signature of the University Registrar. Your name appears on your official transcript as it appears on your university record.
Student academic records are classified as confidential and may be released only with the student’s written authorization and signature, in accordance with the Public Information Act and the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act of 1974.
Transcript Request Options
Requests for HBU transcripts will not be processed until all university accounts (financial or otherwise), have been settled. If a hold on your record has been indicated when your order has been received, you will be notified via email. Transcripts orders will not be accepted by phone.
Students who attended Houston Baptist University prior to 1982 will need to submit a request directly to the Office of the Registrar, electronic PDF delivery is not available. See Option 3.
OPTION 1: Order a Transcript Online
We are pleased to offer transcript ordering online through the National Student Clearinghouse. HBU is under agreement with the NSC to provide 24/7 transcript ordering service to our customers. Using the National Student Clearinghouse Transcript Ordering Service requires the user to submit their signature to authorize release of the transcript. Electronic transcripts are usually sent within 1 business day, and you are able track your request online.
Delivery Options through the NSC:
- Secure electronic PDF delivery – $3.50 (only for students enrolled 1982 – the Present) NOTE: For security reasons, unretrieved e-transcripts will expire 30 days after they are processed if not opened by the recipient and cannot be forwarded beyond the original recipient.
- Standard U.S. Postal Service – $5.00
- In person pickup – $5.00
OPTION 2: In-Person/On-Demand Requests
*Due to the COVID 19 pandemic all in-person pick up request will be mailed out until further notice.
You may come to the Office of the Registrar (Brown Building, Room 154) during regular office hours (Monday – Friday, 8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.) and submit a written request for your transcript. All in person requests to be mailed out, or picked up within 3-5 working days require a $3.00 per transcript processing fee. All on-demand transcripts require a $5.00 per transcript processing fee. Both transcript option fees must be paid via the Cashier’s Office before the transcript(s) will be released. Photo identification is required in order to pick up your transcript. If the transcript is to be picked up by a third party, we must have a written release (including your signature) giving the person named permission to receive the transcript. The person must present a photo ID to obtain the transcript.
OPTION 3: Written Request/Fax
If you are unable to order transcripts online, or in-person, you may send a written or faxed request with your signature. Please contact the office of the Registrar at (281) 649-3213 or by email at firstname.lastname@example.org to obtain the request form. Written requests will take 3-4 business days to process once the request has been received. A $3.00 per transcript request fee must be paid via the Cashier’s Office at (281-649-3471) before the transcript(s) will be processed.
