Blackboard Ultra: All About That Base

When we enable the new Blackboard Ultra experience on June 17th, you will notice a completely new interface that will change how you will navigate through the Blackboard environment. This new way to move around Blackboard is called Ultra Base Navigation.  Let’s talk All About That Base!

From a browser, such as Google Chrome, Mozilla Firefox, Safari, etc, you are currently navigating through a top-tab navigation as seen in this image below [click image to enlarge].

With Ultra Base Navigation, we will be navigating with a left side navigation as seen in the image below [click image to enlarge]. This new navigation is an intuitive, more efficient and modern change to your experience. It works on any device, and brings some great new features that we didn’t have before!

Those new features are:

Institution Page. Here you will find important and helpful information and quick links to familiar resources that were on the “Welcome to HBU!” page in the top-tab navigation in our current Blackboard environment.  Click here to read more about the Institution Page.

The Blackboard Ultra Experience: Coming June 17th

Say goodbye to the old Blackboard and hello to a new, more efficient, more modern user experience called Blackboard Ultra!

Blackboard Ultra is a new user experience that is modern, intuitive, and personalized. It is characterized by simplified workflows and an accessible, fully responsive design – making it easier than ever to teach and learn, from any device.

HBU will be migrating to the Ultra experience in two phases: first with the Ultra Base Navigation on June 17th, 2019 and keeping your courses in the current Original Course View; and second with Ultra Course View beginning with converting our online courses in Fall 2019, and then converting all other courses to the Ultra Course View by the end of Fall 2020.

Ultra Base Navigation

  • Modern, intuitive navigation that provides quick access to the most critical information from across all courses.
  • We will enable Ultra Base Navigation on June 17th, 2019. This will not change how your courses look or function, but will make it easier to navigate in Blackboard.

Ultra Course View

  • New course view that offers a streamlined, more intuitive interface and workflows for maximum efficiency. It is also fully responsive for optimal use on any device, and new functionality and enhancements are added regularly.
  • We will begin converting our online courses to the Ultra Course View starting Fall 2019, and completing the conversion of all of our courses by the end of Fall 2020.

Stay tuned to this page over next few weeks. This page will be updated with all of the highlights and tutorials about  Ultra Base Navigation, and Ultra Course View.
