Position Summary

Provides bus transportation services for University employees, students, and visitors including special events and park-and-ride operations, athletic road trips, ensuring transportation system and passenger safety. Monitors equipment and performs limited maintenance. Provides information and public affairs services.

Job Responsibilities

Drives a university-owned vehicle (bus, van, other passenger vehicles) providing safe and efficient transportation to the university community and its visitors.

Performs routine vehicle inspection and maintenance including checking the oil, fuel, brakes, lights, windshield wipers, and water and tire pressures.

Maintains records of work performed; makes timely reports of accidents, incidents, and unusual occurrences.

Provides information and other general assistance to the university community and its visitors.

Requires a high school diploma or GED.

Must be able to work nights, weekends, and overtime assignments.

Must have a valid Texas CDL Class B license.

  • Passenger and air brake endorsements

Minimum of 1 year experience operating large passenger buses (40 foot or greater).

Experience working in a scheduled transportation system.

As a CDL driver, the employee will be required to comply with all provisions of DOT Regulation 49 CFR Parts 40 and 382, including random drug and alcohol testing.

This position will require a pre-employment criminal background check. Future and/or continued employment in the position is contingent upon obtaining and maintaining a satisfactory background check, which is one that does not include any disqualifying findings.
