The Department of Mathematics is currently seeking a faculty member who is passionate about teaching and student learning and mentoring in a Christian work environment. Houston Baptist University seeks one full-time faculty member in mathematics. Candidates must be able to teach a range of courses, at all levels of undergraduate mathematics while participating in departmental activities including, but not limited to, curriculum development, student mentoring, committee work, and program assessment. Demonstrated excellence in teaching is required, and an interest in continuing scholarship suitable for the inclusion of undergraduates is encouraged. Candidates should be available to begin work in the Fall of 2021 or later. Review of applications will begin immediately and will continue until the position is filled.
Candidates must be willing to help design and teach courses at all levels of mathematics.
- Responsible for planning, implementing, and evaluating classroom experiences for students in the designated mathematical content areas as per University policy.
- Expected to participate in student mentoring and advising and will maintain professional relationships with students, colleagues, and the community.
Candidates should have completed a Doctor of Philosophy in Mathematics. Other qualifications include:
- Active professionally.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Strong skills in the use of instructional technology.
- Committed to quality teaching in a Christian liberal arts university.
- Provide documentation of an excellent teaching record and evidence of scholarly interests.
