Houston Baptist University (HBU) invites applications for Adjunct Professor of Visual Arts with an emphasis in Art History to being Spring 2018. The Department of Visual Arts, part of the School of Fine Arts, offers degrees in Bachelor of Fine Arts – Studio Art, Bachelor of Arts – Studio Art, and Master of Fine Arts – Studio Art. Additional degrees with Art emphasis include the Bachelor of Science – All Level Teacher Certification in Art and Bachelor of Arts – Art Therapy. Candidates who have credentials and experience in Art History are specifically being sought.
The candidate will teach graduate courses in Art History within the Department of Visual Arts’ Master of Fine Arts program.
Applicants should have a terminal degree in Art History from an accredited university or equivalent credentials to teach graduate level Art History courses. Successful candidates will demonstrate an enthusiasm for our classical liberal arts core curriculum, which includes embracing the need for these courses to complement each other. The successful candidate will have a distinguished record and demonstrated excellence in teaching, as well as be able to clearly express how their Christian faith enriches, guides, and undergirds their understanding of creative art. Additionally, the candidate will be able to articulate a vision for the role of his or her discipline at HBU that is supportive of the Ten Pillars vision statement.
