YOU'RE ACCEPTED!......Now What?   

Congratulations!  You're ready to take the next steps to officially becoming a Husky!  

We look forward to welcoming you to the HBU family and answering any questions you may have about enrolling at HBU.  It's a very exciting time in HBU history and we want you to join us!  The addition of exciting new majors (Cinema and New Media Arts, Great Texts, and Legal Studies), a Division I football team, and a new campus master plan are just a few highlights from the past year!  

There are still a few steps you need to take before you get to campus: 

1.  Secure your spot and get one of our brand new "I'm A Husky" t-shirts (see above) by paying your Enrollment Deposit.

The $100 deposit goes directly towards your first semester's tuition and is refundable up until May 1, 2015.  Once you deposit, we'll send you your "I'm A Husky" shirt so you can show your Husky pride!  Deposit today!  

2.  Visit the Campus.

Come take a golf cart tour led by current HBU students.  You'll see the entire campus, including the Bradshaw Fitness Center, classrooms, Morris Cultural Arts Center, and campus dorms.  Personal Campus Tours are offered Monday through Friday at 10am and 2pm, with a third tour offered at 3pm on Fridays only. We also have a number of special visit opportunities throughout the year.  RSVP Today!        

3.  Check out our Scholarship Opportunities and Net Price Calculator.

There are several automatic scholarships for freshman and transfer students, along with a few scholarships that require additional documents.  You should receive a merit award letter a week to two weeks after your acceptance letter.  You can also use our online Net Price Calculator to estimate the scholarships and other financial awards you may be eligible for.  Our freshmen scholarships are based on high school class rank from your transcript and on your SAT or ACT score.  Our transfer scholarships are based on cumulative college GPA.

4.  Submit your FAFSA

The priority deadline for submitting the FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid) to be considered for financial awards is March 1st, 2015.  The 2015-16 FAFSA is not published until January 1st of 2015.  It is highly recommended that you submit the FAFSA, even if you think your family may not qualify for any aid. Students who submit the FAFSA are eligible to receive additional grants, loans, and to qualify for work-study opportunities.

5.  Get the Meningitis Vaccination

Per Texas law, all students under the age of 22 who are attending a new college after January 1, 2012 must have received the Meningitis Vaccination no more than 5 years prior to the first day of class.  In addition, you must have received the vaccination at least 10 days prior to the start of class or campus move-in.  You must provide both proof of the Meningitis Vaccination and the HBU Meningitis Form before you will be allowed to register for classes or move into campus dorms.  Proof of vaccination consists of a copy of shot records with signature of the healthcare professional and the date the shot was administered.

6.  RSVP for New Student Orientation

Spring Registration Day will take place on January 16, 2015.  RSVP today to reserve your spot!

Orientation for freshmen starting in the Fall of 2015 will take place in June. The link to RSVP for freshman orientation will be sent to you once you pay the $100 enrollment deposit.  Freshman orientation dates are the following:

  1. Session I: June 15-16
  2. Session II: June 18-19
  3. Session III: June 22-23
  4. Session IV: June 25-26

Orientation for transfer students starting in Fall of 2015 will take place on July 1, 2015.  Once you pay your $100 enrollment deposit, we will send you the link to RSVP.  Deposit now and you can RSVP for orientation on May 29th.  A limited number of spots are available for this date, so deposit today!

7.  Apply to Live On Campus. 

Be part of the tradition—live on campus!  Freshmen can apply to live in Freshman Village, our suite of dorms that are specifically for freshmen!  Transfer students can live in Hodo Residence College or Husky Village Apartments (juniors and seniors only).  After paying your deposit, you should receive a Housing Packet in the mail.  This will be followed by an email from Residence Life with a username and password needed to apply online.  Please see the Residence Life page for additional information on the application process.

8.  Get ready for Welcome Days (Fall of 2015 only).
