Lockers for Leaders
In November 2011, HBU accepted an invitation to join the prestigious Southland Conference. The University will add football to its existing lineup of 14 varsity athletic sports and begin Southland Conference play in the fall of 2014. Joining the college football ranks – an integral component of the University’s Ten Pillars
vision – will help HBU raise its profile and attract more quality students and faculty.
New Head Football Coach Vic Shealy was hired in April 2012, and HBU’s first recruiting class was announced in August. This is a unique moment in the life of the University. A new HBU Football Training Center – featuring a weight room, training room, equipment area, laundry and locker rooms – will be in place by the fall of 2013 to give HBU’s football student-athletes the opportunity to practice, learn and grow in a facility tailored to their specific needs.
The addition of football presents a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity for friends to be part of a first in the history of HBU. By supporting the Lockers for Leaders program, you can help our student-athletes prepare for and compete at this exciting new level. Each gift of $2,500 will be commemorated in locker with a personalized plaque recognizing your commitment to the beginning of the sport of football at HBU.
