Did You Know? Heart disease is the number one killer of American women, taking more lives than all forms of cancer combined.
In collaboration with the American Heart Association's Go Red for Women campaign, the Memorial Hermann Heart & Vascular Institute-Southwest is proud to offer these free community event to educate about heart disease and prevention:
Hearts & Soles Walk
Tuesday, February 11th from noon to 1 pm
Starting in the Pavilion Breezeway between the Breast Center and Heart & Vascular Institute join our dedicated Cardiac Rehab and food/Nutrition staffs for a fun walk around our campus and learn about staying heart healthy. Participants that complete the course will be entered into a raffle for 4 tickets to the Rockets versus the Wizards on February 12th.

Are you looking for a unique way to get in shape? The Fitness Center is offering our highly anticipated Aquatic Boot Camp
! There is no swimming in this camp. If you can stand, then this is for you! It is an ongoing program that offers a more challenging, yet enjoyable workout experience, which is non-impact and good for the joints. FREE for members ($99/month for non-members). Flu Vaccines are Here!
A limited number of flu vaccines are available in the Health Clinic in Lake House 102C. Cost is $20. Stop by during clinic hours:

Counseling Service starts Monday, October 28, 2013
Beginning Monday, October 28th, on-campus counseling will be available to HBU students through a partnership with Houston's First Baptist Church. Counseling services will be offered without charge to HBU students for this initial semester.
The counseling center is located in Lake House 102A and is open Monday-Thursday 1:00 pm-4:00 pm.
Appointments can be made immediately by calling 713-335-6461. When calling in, students should express that they are interested in counseling at HBU. Appointments are highly preferred though limited walk-ins are possible if a counselor is available at that given time (call first). There will be activities all week long to honor those we have lost to this disease; support those living with breast cancer; celebrate cancer survivors and increase awareness of cancer! Mark your calendars for:
10/14 - Daytime Distraction: Paint the Campus Pink Information Fair, 11am-2pm, Holcombe Mall.
10/15 - Lady in Pink Forum - 11am-noon, Holcombe Mall. Bring your lunch and we will provide the dessert!
10/16 - Mission Munchies after Convo - all proceeds will benefit Breast Cancer Research.
10/17 - HBU Pink Out Night: Volleyball vs. Northwestern State, 7 pm, Sharp Gym.
Saturday, October 12: Women's Health Awareness Rally
Celebrating Breast Cancer Awareness Month at the Bradshaw Fitness Center from 9 am to 2 pm. There will be a Breast Cancer Panel, Hair Replacement by Apollo, chair massages, nutritionist, Zumba & line dancing demos, vegan food, door prizes and much more!
September 24-October 31: Food Stuff
The Bradshaw Fitness Center will host a six part nutrition series
