Saturday, August 23rd

Husky Howl, 9pm, Holcombe Mall

Join us for a preview of a new tradition that cheers on our football team! Similar to a pep-rally, join new, current and past students as we show support before every home game. Besides energizing the crowd, Husky Howl introduces the student body to any new chants and changes to existing ones. This event is sponsored by the Office of the First Year Experience, Student Programming Board and is led by HBU's REC Team.


Sunday, August 24th

Morning Worship (closing ceremony to Welcome Days), 9am, Dunham Theater

Join President Robert Sloan for our morning worship service.  This is open to all students and family members.

Sunday Funday, 6-7:30pm, Hodo Residence Lawn

Free ice cream and games, sponsored by Houston's First Baptist Church


Monday, August 25th

Commuter Outreach, 7-9am, Parking Lots 1C, 3 & 4

Grab a quick bite to eat before your first day of class with a breakfast bar and water! Sponsored by the Baptist Student Ministries

Information Booth, 8am-5pm, Hinton Center

Lost on campus? Need to know where specific offices are or have certain questions? Stop by the Information booth for answers to all your questions!

Map Your Class Schedule, 10am, 11am, & 1pm, Holcombe Mall

Want to know exactly where your classes are going to be? Bring a copy of your schedule and a student leader will show you around campus! 

HUSKYPALOOZA, 10am-2pm, Holcombe Mall

Check out what is going on campus this Fall! Departments from all over campus will be on hand to showcase their area and upcoming events. Free goodies will be on hand!

SPB T-Shirt Swap, 10-2am, Holcombe Mall

Do you have an old shirt from another college or high school? Come swap it out for a brand new HBU shirt! All donated shirts will be collected and distributed to local refugees in the Houston area. Sponsored by the Student Programming Board

International Mixer, 4:30-5:30, Location TBA

Connect with other international students on campus! With over 40+ countries represented on HBU's campus there will be plenty of things to share and learn about! Sponsored by the Office of International Student Services

Worship & Prayer with Refuge, 7-8:30pm, Dunham Theater

Join the Refuge band for a night of worship and prayer the first week of classes! Two CLW credits will be available for those that attend.  Sponsored by the Office of Spiritual Life



Wednesday, August 27th

Intermediate 5K Run, 7:30am, Hodo Residence Hall

You won't want to miss one of the longest traditions on campus! Freshman vs. Upperclassman in one of the biggest battles! Upperclassmen have won this tradition for many years, will this year be the Freshman's time?

Samuel Comroe-Comedian, 7pm, Belin Chapel

FREE show! Samuel has won numerous comedy competitions, including becoming a Top Ten Finalist in the NBC Stand-Up for diversity showcase.  Bring your friends and come ready to laugh! Sponsored by the Student Programming Board

Learn about the exciting things taking place in one of the biggest cities in the nation! Join your fellow HBU Huskies as we cheer on our hometown team as they take on one of their biggest rivals! Game time is 7:10.  Tickets at $10 a piece (limited quantities are available) Purchase tickets in Brown 280 or reserve them at fye@hbu.edu



Friday, August 29th- National College Colors Day!

Wear your HBU colors Blue & Orange to show your school pride! National College Colors Day is celebrated nationwide among other colleges and universities!

Morning Zumba with Gladys, 8am, Holcombe Mall

Get your morning workout on with a total workout, combing all elements of fitness- cardio, muscle conditioning, balance and flexibility, boosted energy and a serious dose of awesome! This class is free and sponsored by the Bradshaw Fitness Center.

College Colors Luncheon, 11am-2pm, Brown Courtyard

Celebrate the end of your first week on campus with a special HBU themed luncheon! Meal plans will be accepted and meals for purchase will be available. Sponsored by the Student Programming Board/Student Government Association & Aramark
