Homeschooled Freshmen are students whose primary and/or secondary level education has been conducted at home in their community overseen by their parents or parentally designated other, rather than in a public or private institutional school setting.

Homeschooled Freshman Admissions Checklist:

Consideration for admission to Houston Baptist University is determined by competitive scores on either the SAT or ACT and by strong high school performance.

If you are applying to HBU as a freshman, you should submit the following to the Office of Admissions:
  • Application for Admission
  • Official high school transcript. An official transcript/score must be mailed directly to Houston Baptist University. For students involved in a homeschool curriculum, a listing of courses which they have completed and the grades they have earned in each course should be provided by their primary instructor.
  • SAT and/or ACT scores
