Thank you for your interest in Houston Baptist University graduate programs. The Graduate School is excited you have chosen to take this next step in your education. Once you have submitted the on-line application refer to the Graduate Program Admission Requirements to review the items needed to complete your admission file.

General Graduate School Requirements

  • Submit official transcripts. Official transcripts should be sent directly to The Graduate School from the college or university that awarded your bachelor's degree and any additional coursework taken since that time.
  • Submit Recommendation Letters. Please see the Graduate Program Admission Requirements for specific information on the type of recommendation letters needed for your program of interest. Links to the letters are available for you to download and forward to your recommenders.
  • Provide a current resume to the Graduate School
In addition to the above requirements some programs require more specific application information. Refer to the Graduate Program Admission Requirements Page to find the specific requirements for your program of interest.

Supporting documents should be sent to the Graduate School

Application Deadlines:
  • Spring - December 1
  • Summer - May 1
  • Fall - August 1
(International Student application deadline is at least two months prior to stated deadline)

  • MFA deadline is April 1 - only admits Fall term.
  • MABL only admits Fall and Spring terms.

Scholarship Deadline (application file must be completed before deadline to be considered for scholarships)

Deadline for MFA applicants is April 1. For all other program, alumni and GRE/GMAT score scholarships the deadline is as follows:
  • Spring - November 1
  • Summer - April 1
  • Fall - July 1

Online Programs
Houston Baptist University may deliver approved programs in a 100% online format to students with residency in Arizona, California, Idaho, Illinois, Indiana (Masters of Arts in Apologetics program only), Kansas, Massachusetts, Michigan, Mississippi, Missouri, Nebraska, New Hampshire, New York, North Carolina, Ohio, Oklahoma, Oregon, Rhode Island, South Carolina, Tennessee, Texas, Vermont, Virginia, Washington and West Virginia.

Permanent Resident applicants will need to provide a copy of their residency card (front and back).

International applicants interested in applying to the graduate programs will also need to provide:
  1. Foreign Transcript Evaluation (a course by course evaluation is required) – See Approved Evaluation Companies
  2. International Processing Fee – required for admission consideration
  3. TOEFL/IELTS, in addition to the following immigration documents:


For F-1 students transferring from a US institution:

  • Copy of valid passport with issue and expiration date
  • Copy of Visa
  • Copy of I-94 (front and back)
  • Copy of I-20
  • Foreign Student Advisor’s Report
  • Financial Affidavit with supporting documents


For F-1 seeking students:

  • Copy of valid passport with issue and expiration date
  • Financial Affidavit with supporting documents


For other International Visas

  • Copy of valid passport with issue and expiration date
  • Copy of Visa
  • Copy of I-94 (front and back)
