Admitted Nursing Students
Congratulations on your admittance to the Nursing Program!
Our vision is to be a school that provides excellent education for preparing professional nurses who design and create health care systems for providing care to all members of society.
New Student Orientation is:
December 9, 2013*
8:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m.**
*New Student Orientation is mandatory for students who have been accepted into the Nursing Program.
**Uniform fitting to follow orientation.
Students are selected conditionally to the program until ALL requirements are complete.
Students are required to submit proof of:

Physical Exam
-
Immunizations
-
Completed Hepatitis B, Polio, and DPT Series
-
Tdap and Polio boosters
-
Influenza Vaccine
-
Negative TB Test
-
Negative chest x-ray if TB test is positive
-
Required Laboratory Tests
-
Complete Blood Count (CBC)
-
Urinalysis
-
Measles, Mumps, Rubella (MMR) titers
-
Varicella (Chicken Pox) titer
-
Negative drug and alcohol test
-
Current CPR
-
Basic Life Support ( infant, child, and adult) & AED
-
We only accept American Heart Association (AHA) Certification, online CPR not accepted

Current personal health insurance
-
FBI Criminal Background Check
-
Issued by the Texas Board of Nursing (TBON)
-
This process may take 4+ months
-
RN Licenses issued by TBON, not HBU
-
HBU prepares students for eligibility to take the NCLEX-RN (RN Licensing exam)

TBON may refuse applicants from taking RN exam if applicant has been convicted of a felony or misdemeanor. If you have been convicted, you are required to petition for a declaratory order to become eligible.
