Third Annual HBU Philosophy Conference

Looking Along the Beam: Philosophical and Theological Themes in the Inklings

The Department of Philosophy at HBU invites papers addressing philosophical and theological themes discussed in the work of the Inklings (including the works of C.S. Lewis, J.R.R. Tolkien, Charles Williams and many others). We welcome papers that deal with the work of the Inklings directly or that explore similar topics that the Inklings addressed. In addition, we will happily consider papers on any philisophical topic. The Department of Philosophy at HBU encourages papers from both analytic and continental traditions. To submit a paper, please send an abstract of around 300 words to Dr. Jeffrey Green at jgreen@hbu.edu. Abstracts should be in an electronic format and prepared for blind review. Participants will have 30 minutes to present papers. The deadline for submissions is January 31st, with notification of acceptance by February 7th.

In an effort to support excellence in undergraduate philosophy education, some sessions have been reserved for undergraduate paper submissions.* Undergraduate students are encouraged to apply by sending a completed paper by January 31st to Dr. Jeffrey Green at jgreen@hbu.edu. We are happy to announce that a stipend of $250 will be available for the best undergraduate paper submitted. Please indicate in your submission that you would like to be considered for this award. *HBU students are not eligible for this award.

All HBU faculty, staff, and students  are welcome to attend keynotes and paper sessions free of registration.
