Event name: Fine Arts Museum Grand Opening
Details: Six masterworks from the collection of Sharon and William Morris are installed in the HBU Fine Arts Museum, which will celebrate its grand opening with a special reception on Thursday, Sept. 27. These paintings include two highly detailed Flemish Baroque paintings, “The Marriage at Cana” by Marten Pepyn and “The Last Judgement” by Frans Fracken the Younger. “Saint John the Baptist in the Wilderness” by Anthony Van Dyck has been relocated to the Fine Arts Museum after being included in the summer exhibit, “Van Dyck in Sicily,” at the Dulwich Picture Gallery, London. Albert Bierdstadt’s “The Matterhorn,” Marc Chagall’s “Esquisse Pour L’Exode, ” and a 16th century Russian work that was previously on display at The Menil Collection also are installed currently.

Following the grand opening on Sept. 27, the HBU Fine Arts Museum will be open from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday for free tours. Saturday and evening tours may be arranged by appointment. For more information, contact Museum Coordinator Laura Kreft at 281-649-3610 or lkreft@gmail.com.
