Houston Baptist University is seeking dynamic faculty who value teaching in an active learning environment among a diverse group of students and faculty members. The University is an independent institution with a strong focus on the liberal arts. The School of Nursing and Allied Health offers a baccalaureate degree in nursing. The low faculty-to-student ratio enhances the educational processes. There are currently full-time undergraduate faculty positions for instructor, or assistant or associate professors in nursing and adjunct positions available.
The full-time positions are nine-month appointments for the first year but may become 12 month appointments based on need. The adjunct positions are determined on an as needed basis each semester. The positions are Medical-Surgical Nursing, Critical Care, Care of Families with Children (Pediatrics), Care of Childbearing Families (Women’s Health and Obstetrics), Mental Health, Leadership, and Community Health.
The Professor in Nursing is responsible directly to the Director of Nursing Programs and the Dean for coordinating learning activities within a particular content area in accordance with the total program of studies, utilization of faculty expertise in selected areas to enhance student learning, scheduling of classrooms, curriculum, course, clinical, student evaluations and course assignments.
Current unencumbered Texas license to practice professional nursing (RN) with clinical practice experience
MSN required with doctorate degree preferred
Two years experience as a Registered Nurse in the teaching area preferred
The University is in the process of implementing its Ten Pillars Vision and anticipates significant growth in enrollment and programs. The successful candidate will also be able to articulate a vision for the role of his or her discipline at HBU that is supportive of the Ten Pillars vision statement.
