R. Kimberly Gaynor, Vice President for University Communications, brings to HBU extensive experience and expertise as a seasoned business executive and world-class marketing professional.

Prior to coming to HBU to serve in this capacity, Gaynor served as Interim Vice President for University Relations at Baylor University in concert with then Baylor president, now Houston Baptist University President, Dr. Robert B. Sloan, Jr.

Kim is a disciplined communicator, a precision-driven administrator, a motivational and strategic leader, and knows intricately the discipline of Marketing Communication.

As President of Foote, Cone and Belding Worldwide, Detroit, Gaynor developed a corporate communications campaign to improve the image of General Motors products. From 1990-2000, Gaynor became head of the agency’s Daimler Chrysler USA & Mexico account. During his decade-long tenure, the Detroit office went from a satellite of Bozell’s New York office to the premier office of its successor, FCB Worldwide, and was awarded the $500 million Jeep business. His leadership and high expectation for excellence have included service in Dallas, Austin, Houston, and Los Angeles. Kim began his career in brand management for Procter & Gamble’s sophisticated Bar Soaps and Household Cleaning Products Division in Cincinnati, Ohio.

Gaynor continues to be a sought after communications consultant, most recently assisting entities such as Baptist St. Anthony Hospital in Amarillo, Texas and Toot ‘n Totem, a regional convenience store chain. Kim received the Bachelor of Business Administration from the University of Texas. He is a member of the first of the university’s four national championship football teams.

Kim and his wife, Brenda, are the parents of Brandon and Morgan. Brandon is married to the former Alison Bass and is an attorney, Senior Landman at Concho Oil and Gas in Midland, Texas. Morgan is a student at Oklahoma State University.
