"The Pillars" Magazine

By now you have noticed the name change of our magazine, “HBU News,” to “The Pillars: The News Magazine of Houston Baptist University."

And the natural question would be why?

HBU News has an interesting and vital history. Originally, it was a newsletter that informed readers on all the events, faculty, and alumni of our younger university, which at the time was known as Houston Baptist College. God, in His graciousness, has mightily blessed year after year.

Our President, Dr. Robert Sloan Jr., along with our fine administrative and academic team, completed a driving vision document to cast the future for Houston Baptist University entitled "The Ten Pillars,” which was unanimously approved by our Board of Trustees on February 19, 2008. This missional vision statement is so essential to who we are and the growth steps ahead that it seemed appropriate to adopt the new name, “The Pillars,” and increase its frequency to four issues per year to keep you better informed.

Expect the same substantive, reportorial content as we “rehearse all that God has done” (Acts 14:27).

HBU also offers a monthly e-newsletter called Advancing the VisionSubscribe to The Pillars and Advancing the Vision.
