Entities that accredit, license, or approve the school and its programs and procedure for reviewing school's accreditation, licensing or approval documentation:
HBU is accredited by the Commission on Colleges of the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools (1866 Southern Lane, Decatur, Georgia, 30033-4097: telephone number 404-679-4501) to award the Associate, Bachelor and Master degrees. It also holds membership in the American Association of Colleges for Teacher Education, the Association of Texas Colleges and Universities and is approved by the Texas State Board for Educator Certification (SBEC) for the preparation of teachers for elementary and secondary schools at both the undergraduate and graduate levels. Its undergraduate degree programs in nursing are accredited by the National League for Nursing Accreditation Commission (NLNAC) and the Board of Nurse Examiners for the State of Texas. The School of Business is nationally accredited by the Association of Collegiate Business Schools and Programs. The Master of Liberal Arts degree program is accredited by the Association of Graduate Liberal Studies Programs.
